An Inspirational success story of CA Vipul from Ahmedabad. He came from a family where his parents had to work very hard to support them. During this exams, his mom was diagnosed cancer and passed away. Through all of it, he stayed strong and focused on his studies.
“My father was a tailor. My parents worked really hard to feed and educate us. I was an average student scoring around 70 to 75% in school. I was not clear about my future so I took up commerce. Right after passing my 10th Std I started working in a readymade garment store. I continued working and studying until my Bcom eventually graduating with a First Class,” says CA Vipul Makwana from Ahmedabad.
My PE-II Journey:
“A friend of mine mentioned CA to me. I enrolled for the same and went ahead with PE-II exams (2nd level CA exam consisting of 2 groups, Group 1 & Group 2, now known as IPCC). Due to financial crises, I did not go for coaching classes and opted for Self Study.
In my 1st attempt in May’06, I failed. I prepared again for the November attempt. However, during this phase, I got to know that my Mother was suffering from cancer but I still have PE-II Group 1. My mother passed away in December 2006. I was very sad but I cleared PE-II Group 1. Then I started with a part-time job and prepared for PE-II Group 2 and cleared the same.
Articleship and CA Final Journey:
In Dec’07 I got married as per my family decision and started with my articleship in a mid-size firm. Apart from my articleship I used to do multiple part-time jobs as I had to support my family financially.
In 2009 I became a father of a son. My CA Final (Last level CA exam consisting of 2 groups, Group 1 and Group 2) attempt was in May’10. I fell really ill during this time and could not prepare for the same so I failed.
Through all of this, my boss supported me and started coaching me. His guidance was so helpful and it was one of the big reasons for my success. In my CA Final 2nd attempt I gave only Group 1 but failed. Working full time till the exams did not let me focus on my studies. So I decided to take appropriate study leave of about 2.5 months and prepare for my CA Final 3rd attempt. I decided to give both groups this time.
It was May’11 and I cleared my CA Final in my 3rd attempt. The best thing – I cleared both groups together. That day my 2-year-old son was telling everyone – My Dad became a CA. It was such an amazing moment. A big Thank You to my wife who stood by me.
Now I am well settled working as a Tax Manager in a CA reputed firm with a handsome package. I did not lose hope after losing my mom. I got married had a son, took up family responsibilities and worked hard with determination and family support. My dad is still working though I told him not to work he said he is enjoying his work and it keeps him busy.
